Get Ready

Well, let me just say it's great to be speaking with you all again.  In case you don't remember why you're here or even who I am, I (Ryan Tisthammer) created this blog as a place to hide my less PC posts from my first AP Comp blog, which I must have thought had potential and needed to remain spotless.  I have since abandoned both of these blogs, but I recently decided to restore this blog to very moderate use.

That's right; this zero-post second fiddle is getting a promotion.  Why, you ask?  Unfortunately, I'm not writing this for fun, because I am writing this for Mo Pro.  Chances are that this will be my Part V.  My essay will be about whether or not the United States should use drone strikes against poachers in Sub-Saharan Africa, and I don't want to write a letter to a Congressman about it.  Think about it...

     "Dear Senator Franken,
"Please do me a solid and say that we should shoot up those poachers in Africa. Thanks."

                                                                                or

     "Dear Congressman Paulsen,
"Whatever you do, DO NOT send drones to Africa, even if baby elephants are dying.
              Thanks."

It doesn't work.  So here's my plan: I'm going to write to whoever will listen, and I will educate you all on my topic (if you'll allow me to, of course).  Then, if, somehow, there's anything in my topic that is worth bringing before our esteemed elected officials, I will not be a one-man interest group.  WE will be a coalition.  Together, we can get it done, on the off chance there is something worth getting done.

But why am I mentioning this now when Part V's due date is over three months away?  I plan to spend those three months proving myself.  I will refine this blog; it will become something you want to check daily.  Maybe.  I will attract people I don't even know to read about my opinions.  Hopefully.  When the time comes, if I am lucky, I can write my findings on my topic on a modestly popular blog.  Mine.

In the months ahead, I plan to write about my opinions on an almost regular basis.  Hopefully, I'll adopt a schedule for my writing that you all can follow.  In case that doesn't happen, though, you should still check back frequently, because you won't want to miss when I do post.  I plan to keep this blog true to its roots, so I won't be writing about Wayzata doing late starts or whether the drinking age should be 18 instead of 21.  In the months ahead, you can expect controversial and obscure topics, possibly including the following.

  • Whether or not schools should tell students if their future is at McDonalds,
  • Whether or not America should draft organ donors, and
  • Why Ryan hates charitable donations.
     Stay tuned.
